In Maharashtra, the BJP turned the tables in five months and set a new record.
Mahayuthy’s landslide victory in Maharashtra destroyed all speculations and equations. The alliance won 231 of the 288 seats. This in itself is special because just five months ago the BJP suffered a huge setback in Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha elections. Since then, the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi is full of hopes of clearing Mahayuthi in the parliamentary elections. In fact, on the contrary, the PPP not only made a comeback with an excellent winning rate, but also wrote the story of the victory of the Mahayutth Alliance.
The BJP suffered a major setback in the Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections. Out of the 48 seats in the Lok Sabha, the Congress Party’s Niti Maha Vikas Aghadi won 30 seats, while the Mahayutti Alliance won 17 seats. One seat was given to someone else. The party was at a disadvantage thereafter, but the PPP made a comeback in the parliamentary elections held five months later. This time, out of the 231 seats won by Mahayut’s alliance, the BJP alone won 132 seats. The BJP is contesting 145 seats here. Even political analysts were not expecting the BJP’s performance.
These 5 reasons why the BJP is changing the atmosphere in Maharashtra?
1-The narrative of the Constitution is turned upside down
Maharashtra’s mandate in the Lok Sabha elections is a big blow to the BJP. The party did not foresee such a fate. In this situation, the BJP is trying its best to change the atmosphere here. Instead, the opposition alliance began to view the results of the Lok Sabha elections as a guarantee of victory in the parliamentary elections. The BJP was the first to overturn the opposition’s remarks on the constitution. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has taken charge of the matter, raising the issue of Congress cheating on various platforms across the country. He also succeeded in getting his message across to the people. Political analysts believe that the argument of saving the constitution has brought the BJP its biggest loss in the Lok Sabha elections. Therefore, Buddhists and other Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were dispersed by the BJP but when this issue came to light, this vote bank again joined the BJP.
2-Radley Behan Yujana
After spreading the narrative about the Constitution, the next focus of the BJP is the women vote bank. For this purpose, the party planned and promoted Ladli Behan Yojana. Four installments of the scheme were transferred to women’s accounts in the 5 months between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Earlier the amount was Rs 1,000, which was later increased by Rs 250 and finally to Rs 1,500. The move worked, and this time women came out of their homes and voted overwhelmingly in the parliamentary elections.
3- The slogan “If we are divided, we are divided; if we are together, we are safe”
The third reason why the BJP is confident about the Maharashtra elections is that these slogans have united the Hindi vote bank to a great extent. First, UP CM Yogi Adityanath ignited the political atmosphere in Maharashtra by raising the slogan “Bantege to Katenge”. The slogan has resonated strongly in Maharashtra, with some party leaders adopting it as their motto. While some leaders also felt that the slogan could also cause damage, such as Ajit Pawar, Pankaja Munde and Ashok Chavan of the NCP, a BJP ally ) and other leaders also came out against it, but the party stuck to its slogan. When the riots escalated, Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only acquiesced to CM Yogi’s slogans by raising slogans of “Ek hai to safe hai”, but in other words, he succeeded in conveying a message to the people: those who are known for divisiveness People divided in name only on caste and religion they are waiting for answers. The impact was evident in the elections, where the BJP received a lopsided vote.
4-Sabuka Saas Sabuka Vikas Formula
In Maharashtra, despite slogans like “If we divide, we will be cut”, “If we unite, we are safe”, the BJP has not allowed the wrong connotations of these slogans to spread anywhere . The party remains completely focused on the Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas formula. Just before the elections, CM Shinde also tried to send a message that the Maharashtra government and the Mahayutthi alliance are not anti-Muslim by increasing the salaries of madrassa teachers. This had an impact on the Muslim vote. The proportion of Muslim votes in the Lok Sabha elections was 65% to 70%, but this time it dropped to only 35% to 40%.
5- Strategies to make farmers happy
Mahayut’s government, along with Prime Minister Jan Dhan Yojana, has been making continuous efforts to please farmers in Maharashtra. The government not only improved its situation but also assured the people that the government was with the farmers. The BJP is here to provide relief to cotton and soybean farmers. Apart from this, farmers in north Maharashtra were angry over the ban on onion exports and the government introduced policies on this which benefited them in the elections.
