Opposition leaders have started raising questions after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited CJI DY Chandrachud’s residence for Ganesh Puja. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi wrote on social media, ‘Hopefully after the festival is over, the CJI will be a little free to hear the case on the gross violation of Article 10 of the Constitution in Maharashtra. Oh wait, elections are near anyway, it can be postponed for some other day.’
Indira Jaisingh said, ‘The Chief Justice of India has compromised on the division of powers between the executive and the judiciary. The CJI has lost the trust of independence. The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) should condemn the compromise of independence publicly displayed.’
During this, BJP leader Kapil Mishra retaliated to Sanjay Raut’s statement. Kapil Mishra said, “When the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India met during Ganpati Puja, the Constitution came under threat. If they had met during Roza Iftar, democracy would have been strengthened.” Let us tell you that Sanjay Raut had said, “Bhaiya, understand the chronology. This unconstitutional government will continue like this. O God of justice… are you seeing this?”
