Jammu, September 15: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s groundbreaking rally in Doda on September 14, another star campaigner of the BJP, Home Minister of India Amit Shah will arrive in Chenab Valley tomorrow to keep the party’s strong campaign momentum in Chenab Valley going.

BJP spokesperson and media centre in-charge Arun Kumar Gupta briefed the home minister’s schedule at a press conference and said he (Shah) will address three rallies tomorrow in Ramban, Kishtwar and Padder.

Tomorrow is the last day of voting in the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir state assembly elections.

On September 18, eight assembly seats in three districts of Chenab Valley in Jammu region will go to polls in the first phase.

This will be Amit Shah’s second visit to Jammu region. Earlier, he paid a two-day visit to Jammu on September 6 and 7.

On September 6, he released the party manifesto and discussed strategies for the Jammu and Kashmir state assembly elections with party leaders that evening. On September 7, he addressed a large party member meeting in Jammu city.

Besides, JP Nadda, India’s Home Minister, party national president and India’s Health Minister will also visit Jammu on September 20.

This was revealed by Union Minister and Jammu and Kashmir state election in-charge G Kishan Reddy while speaking to the media. He said that party president Nadda will visit Jammu to further boost the party’s campaign. “Our party president is likely to hold a roadshow in Jammu to motivate the grassroots members of the party,” he said.

Reddy reiterated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also visit the region for campaigning in the second and third phases. Besides, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also campaign in the second and third phases, Reddy said, adding that the party is ready to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir after the assembly elections.

Announcing the Home Minister’s schedule, BJP spokesperson and media centre in-charge Arun Kumar Gupta also said, “BJP has received overwhelming response from the people of all parts of Jammu and Kashmir and will form a government with majority votes.”

Gupta said the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will fight the elections on the basis of the revolutionary steps taken for peace, development and prosperity in the past decade.

“BJP is the only party which has come up with a comprehensive manifesto focusing on public welfare. The party is reaching out to the people through its development agenda while other parties are misleading the people with empty promises aimed at plunging Jammu and Kashmir back into the era of unrest and chaos,” he said.

The BJP won four seats out of six constituencies in three districts of Chenab Valley in the last assembly election held in 2014. The party won two seats in Doda district and one each in Kishtwar and Ramban districts.

After delimitation, Chenab Valley now has eight assembly constituencies, three each in Doda and Kishtwar districts and two in Ramban district. After delimitation, two more constituencies, one each in Doda and Kishtwar districts, have been added.
