The extortion incident involving a jeweler in Una district of Himachal Pradesh has created a sensation. After the incident was exposed, it caused an uproar in the police station. The jeweler received a ransom call of Rs 1 crore and was threatened with dire consequences if the money was not paid.
Una Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sanjeev Bhatia told PTI that the victimized jeweler made an extortion demand for money from Nangar in Punjab on Sunday.
In fact, a businessman resident of Una, Himachal Pradesh has a showroom in Una and another one 20 kilometers away in Nanjal.
According to ASP Sanjeev Bhatia, an unidentified person called the businessman and demanded Rs 1 crore and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not pay the money. The ASP said the matter was before them and police were investigating links to the case.
The police officer said that the Nanjhar police station in Punjab is also investigating the matter. So far, no clues have been found about the accused.
