Following the Himachal Pradesh samosa incident, the government has issued a unique order. Now photos of CM Sukhu cannot be shared without permission. According to the order, all government departments and government agencies will have to take permission from the Director of Information and Public Relations before publishing the photos of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sohu. No photos of CM may be shared without this permission.
The ban will apply to photos taken of the chief minister during departmental meetings, official functions or public functions. In a letter to secretaries and department heads, the DIPR said it has noticed that the chief minister’s photo was released to the media without prior approval.
Photos may damage image
The letter expressed concern that in some cases the photos showed inappropriate expressions and could damage the First Minister’s public image. “Irregular dissemination of the photo may have far-reaching consequences, affecting the image and perception of the Chief Minister and the government,” the letter said.
Government heightened vigilance after Samosa incident
The government has increased its vigilance after the recent samosas incident at the CID project. In fact, CM Sukhu participated in a program where samosas and cakes were ordered from the Radisson Hotel. The cake was originally meant for senior military officers, but due to a misunderstanding, it was given to security personnel. As soon as this incident came out, it caused an uproar and CID launched an investigation. Investigators called it an anti-government act and the investigation report was leaked. As soon as the investigation report came out, the opposition raised questions and said that if anyone ate the chief minister’s samosas, a CBI investigation would be launched. Subsequently, clarifications were also issued from CM Sukhu to government public relations officers and CID officials. However, the opposition is still pressing the government on the samosas issue. This order is issued simply to avoid this situation. (Enter-PTI)
