Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Beirut. A source close to the Lebanese terrorist organization provided this information to AFP. The source said Aqil was the commander of Hezbollah’s Radwan unit.

He was the second most prominent commander of Hezbollah’s armed wing after Fuad Shukr, who was killed in an IDF raid in July. Saudi Al-Hadath channel also confirmed from sources close to Hezbollah that Ibrahim Aqil had been eliminated.

Appointed commander in July

Imad Mughniyeh was the military chief of Hezbollah. He was killed by Israel in 2008. Fuad Shukr replaced him. He was also killed in July 2024. Then Ibrahim Aqil took his place, and Israel also killed him today.

The Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah fired 140 rockets into northern Israel early Friday, a day after its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, vowed to retaliate against Israel for the pager explosion. The Israeli army and the terrorist group provided this information.

Hezbollah fires rockets at Israel

The Israeli military said the rockets were fired at locations along the Lebanese border on Friday afternoon. Hezbollah said Katyusha rockets hit multiple locations along the border, including several air defense bases and the headquarters of an Israeli armored brigade.

Lebanon was rocked by explosions on Tuesday and Wednesday. On the first day, 5,000 pagers used for communication exploded in many parts of the country, including the Lebanese capital Beirut. The attack killed 12 people and injured about 3,000.

Concerns over phone use in Lebanon

Walkie-talkie explosions rocked southern Beirut and other parts of Lebanon for a second day, killing 20 people and injuring more than 450. Lebanese militant group Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attacks, which have raised concerns about the use of electronic devices such as phones and national security.
