Preparations for the Jharkhand assembly elections are in full swing. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma continues to register in Jharkhand. In addition, he is also the joint in-charge of the BJP in Jharkhand. Meanwhile, CM Sarma on Monday said that if NRC and UCC are not implemented in Jharkhand, the entire state will be overrun by infiltrators. During this period, he also attacked Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Talking to reporters in Jharkhand capital Ranchi, Himanta Biswa Sarma said investigations like NRC and UCC are necessary to identify infiltrators in the state. However, he said the tribal society would not come under its jurisdiction but would follow its customs and traditions. UCC is necessary for the rest of society. CM Sarma said the arrival of UCC will also help balance the demographic structure.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said yesterday Union Home Minister Amit Shah also said that the UCC will definitely come. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, UCC will be implemented across the country. CM Sarma also targeted Jharkhand Mukti Morcha working president and state chief minister Hemant Soren. He said Hemant Soren wanted infiltrators to keep coming to Jharkhand as they were his vote bank.

CM Sarma said Hemant Soren talked about implementation of PESA law but why it is not implemented now. PESA Act, the Planning Areas Expansion Panchayat Act, 1996. Under the Act, autonomy is ensured to the people living in the planned areas through traditional gram sabhas. He said if there is no law, if the UCC does not come, then infiltrators will continue to occupy the land here.

During this period, Sarma also issued a statement on Hemant Soren providing asylum to the former Bangladesh Prime Minister in India. A day earlier, CM Soren attacked the BJP over the issue of infiltrators and asked on what basis the former Bangladesh Prime Minister was granted asylum in the country. Reacting to this, the Assam Chief Minister said that he was not talking about deporting the infiltrators and continued to blame Sheikh Hasina.
