There is turmoil in Jharkhand politics once again. Former Chief Minister Champai Soren has agreed to join the BJP. On his joining the BJP, Congress senior leader Rajesh Thakur said, ‘Champai is now trapped in the net of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He says that he was insulted, but Hemant Soren gave him the best and the position he achieved is now a dream for him.’

Rajesh Thakur further said that Champai Soren was made a minister again. Hemant sacrificed his brother Basant Soren’s chair to include Champai. He is a traitor.

‘First I thought I should retire…’

There were speculations for many days about Champai Soren that he is going to join BJP. On Tuesday, he confirmed that he is going to join BJP. Champai Soren said, ‘This is my new chapter. First I thought of taking retirement, then on the demand of the public, I decided to stay in politics. After thinking, I thought that I should go with PM Modi. I am going to join BJP.’

Earlier on Monday, Champai Soren met Home Minister Amit Shah. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also shared a picture of this meeting on social media and wrote that former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and a respected tribal leader of our country, Champai Soren ji met Honorable Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji some time ago. Why is BJP trying to woo Champai?

Champai Soren, popularly known as the Kolhan Tiger, was the most senior tribal leader in JMM after party patron Shibu Soren. His stature in the party can be gauged from the fact that when Hemant Soren decided to step down from the post of Chief Minister of Jharkhand due to ED arrest, Champai Soren was made the Chief Minister in place of his cabinet colleague Joba Majhi.

However, after being released from Ranchi jail, Hemant Soren returned to the Chief Minister’s office on July 4 and took oath as Chief Minister. Champai Soren was included in the Jharkhand cabinet as the new Education Minister, but this did not go down well with the ‘Tiger of Kolhan’. And a few days ago, he wrote a long post on social media and announced his decision to leave the party.
