Woman lawyer duped of Rs 5 lakh

According to the news agency report, ‘On Wednesday afternoon, the 36-year-old woman lawyer received a call from a person who introduced himself as an officer of a telecom authority. He told the victim that a SIM card registered in her name was being used for money laundering. The fraudsters told her that if she paid money, she would get a clean chit from the Andheri police after which her phone number would be activated.’

There was a threat of being implicated in a money laundering case

During this, the woman lawyer was made to talk to another person who claimed that he was the head of the cyber cell of the police. She was asked to go to a hotel room in Powai and talk through a video call.

The cyber criminals cleverly told the woman that the woman involved in the money laundering racket has bullet wounds on her body and they want to check and verify her. Using this trick, the cyber thug made the woman take off her clothes and recorded her video.
