Even during the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Sunita Kejriwal was campaigning for Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi as well as in other states. Later, when the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal for the election campaign, Sunita Kejriwal handed over the election torch to Arvind Kejriwal. Later, both of them continued campaigning together for their party. Arvind Kejriwal even sought votes for the Congress candidates – but the Aam Aadmi Party candidates were ready to eat all four, and the Congressmen also laid down their arms before the BJP in all the three constituencies.
Like in the Lok Sabha, in Haryana too, during the election campaign, Prime Minister Modi is seen to be the target of Sunita Kejriwal, and she is repeatedly trying to explain how Modi has put the son of Haryana in jail. For Haryana too, Sunita Kejriwal is specifically mentioning Kejriwal’s 5 guarantees like Delhi and Punjab. On behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party, she is promising that if the party comes to power, then like in Delhi and Punjab, people will get free education, health and electricity facilities – and women will also get Rs 1,000 every month. Arvind Kejriwal has got interim bail in the ED money laundering case, but in the CBI case, Delhi High Court has rejected the bail plea and asked him to go to the trial court. For the first time, the election command in Haryana was the responsibility of Yogendra Yadav, when he used to be in the Aam Aadmi Party. In 2014, he also contested elections from Gurgaon Lok Sabha seat, but none of the 10 candidates of the party could even save his deposit. In 2024, Sushil Gupta contested the elections from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha seat on behalf of Aam Aadmi Party. He contested the Kurukshetra constituency as a candidate of INDIA alliance, but lost to BJP’s Naveen Jindal by 29 thousand votes.
In such a situation, while Arvind Kejriwal is currently lodged in Tihar Jail, and there is some time left for the Delhi Assembly elections, the Haryana Assembly elections are like a practice match for the Aam Aadmi Party, and the opportunity to test itself is also good, but there are too many expectations.
