Family members of the victims said that ethnic minority families living nearby protested. After a while, an argument over a trivial matter turned into a quarrel.

The victim’s family said families from a nearby ethnic community not only beat Rekha’s husband but also threw stones at their home. Rekha’s daughter Pinky said the boy, who lived in a nearby minority community, jumped into the house from the roof and tried to force himself on him.
