A truck going from Uttar Pradesh to Punjab fell into a big pit due to highway subsidence near Golanpur village in Yamunanagar, Haryana. The fortunate thing is that there were no casualties in this accident. This accident, which happened after heavy rains, has exposed the quality of the highway.

Highway officials say that due to soil slipping from under the road, a large part of the highway settled. Traffic was diverted after the accident. The fortunate thing is that during the Kanwar Yatra, there was no damage to the car of any Kanwariya or Shiva devotee due to this accident.

Ash is being used instead of soil

Farmer leader Mandeep Road Chappar has said that corruption in highway construction was the reason behind this accident. He said that during highway construction, ash is being used instead of soil, due to which the roads are becoming weak and accidents are taking place.

Demand to check highway quality

Referring specifically to Yamunanagar-Ponta Sahib Highway, the farmer leader said that ash is being used in construction there too. He demanded a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action.

Use of scrap and inferior rebar in highway construction

Pawan Kumar, a resident of village Tehi, raised questions on the quality of the highway construction work and showed it by removing the rebar from the highway. He alleged that substandard scrap and bars are being used in highway construction, which is causing such incidents.
