Congress has formed a committee to look into the possibilities of alliance with Aam Aadmi Party in Haryana. This committee will look into all the aspects related to the alliance in the state and submit a report to the party high command. Based on this report, it will probably be decided how many seats can be given to AAP in the state assembly elections. Aam Aadmi Party has demanded 20 seats in the state.

Deepak Babaria, Deepender Hooda and Ajay Maken will be part of the committee and they will discuss the issue of seat sharing with AAP leaders. They will also keep an eye on and discuss the 12 seats where there is a tussle within the Congress over who should be the candidates on those seats.

Congress in dilemma regarding alliance

The first meeting of the working committee proved to be just an initial warm-up in the Congress’ efforts to snatch power from the BJP in the Haryana assembly elections. After this meeting, there were indications that the party may have to face difficulties on many fronts in dealing with the alliance dilemma.

With Congress hoping to come to power, seat sharing in the state could prove to be a big problem for the party. It is being said that during the first meeting of the CEC, the top leaders of the party presented a possible list on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party, in which 20 seats were demanded in the alliance.

According to a senior leader, Aam Aadmi Party has demanded 20 seats on the basis of the one Lok Sabha seat that they got in the Lok Sabha elections. According to the Congress leader, therefore, Aam Aadmi Party believes that they should get an equal share of the assembly seats.

Congress is not in favor of giving 20 seats

Congress leaders believe that 20 seats cannot be given to AAP, and this cannot be done on the logic of India alliance, because INDIA alliance is a national alliance, not a local one. The party high command also believes that fairness should be maintained regarding the alliance with Aam Aadmi Party.

Rahul Gandhi had talked about alliance

Rahul Gandhi asked the leaders to see if there is any scope to work with them. They were also asked to find a way to give some seats as part of the INDIA alliance. It is worth noting that the Congress alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi has been unsuccessful. Tensions have often been seen between the two parties.
