A student of Dental College in Rohtak, Haryana has accused a doctor of Rohtak’s Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) of assaulting her. On the complaint of the student, the police have registered a case and arrested the accused.
Let us tell you that this incident has come to light at a time when there is anger across the country against the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor and people are protesting. Regarding the case of assault on a student in Rohtak, Rohtak Police said that PGIMS officials informed about the incident of assault on a BDS student in the campus. After this, taking immediate action, senior police officers reached the medical college and contacted the victim and her family.
Taken to Chandigarh and beaten up
According to the news agency, the police said that the student has alleged in her complaint that on August 16, the accused kidnapped her from PGIMS and took her to Ambala and Chandigarh and tortured and beat her.
Police said an FIR was registered and the accused was immediately arrested. He said that the medical examination of the victim has been conducted and her statement has also been recorded before the Judicial Magistrate.
Student showed injury marks on social media
Rohtak Police said that no evidence of sexual harassment has come to light so far during the girl’s statement and investigation. The accused doctor teaches anatomy in the medical college. In a video uploaded on social media, the victim showed injury marks. She said she was a first year BDS student and alleged that the accused tortured her for seven months.
The student alleged, ‘Whenever I tell him (the accused) that I do not want to live with him, he beats and tortures me. He threatens that he will not allow me to register my attendance in the lectures and will not allow me to appear in the examination either.
Police engaged in investigation from every angle
The accused is being interrogated thoroughly on this allegation of the student. Rohtak DSP Virendra Singh said in a statement that the case is being investigated keeping every aspect in mind. He told that the BDS student had complained of assault on Saturday night.
