New Delhi:
A top official of the Donald Trump Administration told Harvard University that a controversial letter sent to the institution last week was issued without a proper authority.
On April 11, the Task Force of the White House was held responsible for the dated letters and antisementism, in which Harvard officials looked at the university’s work, admission procedures and educational courses as a series of demands for excessive infiltration, stating that, stated. the new York Times,
Assuming that he had no choice, the university publicly intended to push back against the administration on 14 April.
Then, shortly after the announcement of the university, an official of Donald Trump approached Harvard that the letter was sent to error. The officer described communication as “unauthorized”, the New York Times cited two persons with knowledge of the matter.
According to three other people on the situation, the letter was sent by the acting general lawyer Sean Keweni in the Department of Health and Human Services. Keweni is also a member of the Antisemitism Task Force. While the content of the letter was real, it seems that there was confusion within the administration whether it was to be sent to Harvard, the New York Times report said.
Some people in the White House believed that the document was sent prematurely, while others thought it was entirely for internal circulation among the members of the task force. The sources requested oblivion due to the sensitive nature of internal discussions.
The time of the letter greatly affected the situation. At the time it came, Harvard saw a constructive dialogue with the task force over a two -week period. The university believed that there was still a place to avoid a public dispute with the US President. But the severity of the demands mentioned in the letter motivated Harvard to conclude that there was no possibility of reconciliation.
As the New York Times stated, the incident “established a tectonic battle between the country’s most reputed universities and one of the US President”.
