The public craze for the songs of actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is very intense. Diljit is currently on his ‘Dil-Luminati World Tour’ where many of his overseas shows are sold out. He is one of the Indian artistes whose international concerts are very popular and attract huge crowds.

Diljit is about to perform in Delhi and the craze for his concert has made the tickets sold out within minutes of opening for booking. Recently, a social media influencer criticised Diljit for buying expensive tickets for his show.

The influencer said, “Indian artistes have no right to charge Rs 20-25 thousand for concert tickets.” The most expensive ticket for Diljit’s show in Delhi cost more than Rs 19,000, sparking a debate on social media after the influencer’s video went viral.

But now Punjabi music icon Gurdas Maan has defended the expensive ticket prices for Diljit’s concert. In an interview with TV 9, Gurdas said Rs 19,000 meant nothing to the audience, citing “inflation”.

Artist fans buy expensive tickets
Talking about the rush for his shows in the UK, Gurdas said: “In the UK, it’s not about making a little announcement for the show, something happens. Or getting someone to promote it, and even before you go there, the show is sold out. Once you get there, people sit in the two to four remaining seats. They also want us to sit in the first seat. The first seat is lovers, close to (the artist), and even if the house is sold, they are lovers.

“Babaji, what is inflation?”
It is said that the tickets for performances have become very expensive now, and the tickets for the performances of Punjabi music star Diljit Dosanjh cost 19,000 rupees. So Gurdas Maan said, “Babaji, what is the inflation rate!” As far as I know, according to the ticket prices at that time, 19,000 rupees was very little. How much was a hundred rupees worth at that time… (According to today’s conditions) If you change the price of a hundred rupees to a thousand rupees, how much will you get, right?

He further said, “For those who want to watch the show, all of this, 19,000, is not important. 19 thousand is for those who want to sit in the front and watch. The back is also open for rest. This also happens in our shows. The urge to listen, the desire, is important.

Gurdas told reporters that he had used the money to buy tickets and only watched Michael Jackson’s performance. He watched the show “to fulfill the wish of his child.” His son was studying in Ajmer and came to Mumbai later, and he was living in Mumbai at the time.

Gurdas told reporters that the show was sold out, but he managed to buy two tickets from somewhere, but it was late, and he and his son stood on chairs to watch the show. After watching the show, his son told him: “You fulfilled my wish and won my heart.”

Gurdas Maan will be on tour promoting his new album, Sounds of the Soil. In India, he will be performing in Ludhiana, Delhi and Indore. Some of his performances will also take place in the US.
