Gujarat: Water level of Narmada river increased due to heavy rains, 5 gates of Sardar Sarovar Dam opened, one lakh cusecs of water released.

Due to increase in the water level of Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat, water has been released into the Narmada River, due to which the water level of the river is increasing rapidly. On Sunday morning, 5 gates of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam were opened, through which one lakh cusecs of water was released. Due to which the Garudeshwar Weir Dam built on the Narmada River near Garudeshwar overflowed.

Due to heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh, 2 lakh 95 thousand 972 cusecs of water has entered the dam, due to which the Narmada Dam is 87 percent filled. At present, 3823.60 million cubic meters of live storage water is filled in Narmada Dam.

For the first time this season, water has reached 134.59 meters on Narmada Dam, while the maximum surface of the dam is 138.68 meters. Narmada Dam is just 4 meters away from the maximum level.

At the same time, after the release of water from Narmada Dam, the villages situated on the banks of Narmada in Bharuch and Vadodara of Gujarat have been alerted. But there is no situation of concern right now.
