In the incident in Old Rajendra Nagar of Delhi, the lamps of many families were extinguished due to the malfunction of the system, while the situation is not much different in the capital Lucknow too. On the lines of Old Rajendra Nagar, there are innumerable illegal coaching and PG establishments located on Naval Kishore Road, Lucknow, where the lives of innocent children are at stake every day. Alarmed by this incident, the UP government has also ordered to inspect the basements built or under construction. When Aaj Tak reached Naval Kishore Road and investigated, it was found that whether coaching or PG, all are being run illegally.
NEET coaching going on in the basement
First of all, let us take you to NEET coaching set up in a basement, where you will feel as if you have entered some ruins. Not only this, there is a hanging electric wire on the way to enter this coaching center, which is no less than a feast of death for children during the rainy months. Here coaching is going on in the basement and there is only one exit and there is a suffocating atmosphere inside. If the power goes out, you will be out of breath. At the same time, the stairs built here are so narrow that only two people can go up or down at a time, which means if there is a fire or waterlogging, there is a risk of death in the stampede.
Coaching centers are built in narrow streets
Moving a little further, there is a narrow lane, which is only 10m wide, where not even a car can go and amidst the web of these lanes, there are many coaching centers and then PG hostels. If there is a fire in the coaching or PG built in this street, even a fire tender cannot come inside.
A little further ahead there are PGs whose conditions are even worse. There is no damp, termite dirt here. Children say that the conditions here are very bad, it is difficult to live. There are wires hanging outside the rooms. To prevent electrocution in the rain, cardboard has been installed in the name of cheap Jugaad, a cardboard has become a standard for the safety of children. Such is the condition of this place that if you walk here, dangerous electrical wires will touch your head, neck and shoulders and on top of that, there is water dripping from the sewer and AC. Sacks of potatoes and onions are kept outside the girls’ hostel.
After this, moving forward in these streets, we come to another street which is the way of PG and coaching, where there is only dirty water in which dangerous mosquitoes are swimming on top. There are some bricks kept on top of the dirty water due to which the children perform stunts while leaving for their coaching and PG, the report said that they are walking on these bricks.
After moving a little further, commercial buildings have been built where there are clothes shops and education shops too and on the roads through which these students go, there is only spit and dirt. There is a big banner of a coaching center, behind it there is a dirt pit, whereas it is written there, ‘Spitting and littering is prohibited’.
There is also an illegal lift installed in this building, which may not have been checked for years, through it we reach the coaching center above, there too there is only a tangle of dangerous wires and life at stake. After this, another coaching is available in the basement. Although he claims that he has the papers, there is no answer as to whether he can run coaching in the basement or not.
