Government welcomed ‘Supreme’ decision on NEET, Education Minister said – Opposition should apologize to students

Giving a big blow to the unsuccessful candidates of NEET-UG 2024, the Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the petitions demanding cancellation of the controversy-ridden examination and re-conduct of the examination. The Supreme Court said there was no evidence on record from which it could be concluded that it had been “contaminated” due to “systematic violation” of its sanctity. The Central Government also welcomed this decision of the Supreme Court. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that his government is grateful to the Supreme Court.

While addressing a press conference, Pradhan said, “Satyamev Jayate! We welcome the decision of the Supreme Court. Our priority is the students and their future. The government has always believed in this and is grateful to the Supreme Court. In the last few days The Supreme Court has also taken into consideration the weaker sections of the society, SC, ST and rural students by deciding not to conduct NEET again.

He further said, “Zero tolerance for sanctity of examination and violations. Prevention of Unfair Means Act has been notified. Transparent tamper free and zero error examination system – Government is committed. Completely restructured NTA – led by Prof. Dr. Radhakrishnan A high level committee is working on this. That report will also be released soon.

‘The opposition should apologize to the students’

He said that the LOP leader and his leadership had called the examination nonsense. They (opposition) should apologize to the parents and people and students of the country. Everything is on record. We gave the public examination the law it needed. They should answer when they brought the law and why they withdrew it? There has been an increase in the number of OBC, SC, ST students appearing for NEET on CBT or OMR sheet based examination. There are 4750 centres. The exam is for rural, tribal and Dalit children, the biggest beneficiaries will be OMR or CBT, a high level panel will decide.

New merit list will be released: Education Minister

Dharmendra Pradhan said that we will consider his recommendations. There should be an all India examination by the agency on NEET exemption bill by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, there are a lot of complaints in the old practice. I don’t understand why these people want to go against the orders of the Supreme Court. Last time there was a topper from Tamil Nadu. Those who are opposing Tamil Nadu were part of the examination conduct in 2010. More than 4 lakh students will lose ranks and 4-5 masks due to a controversial question. A new merit list will be released in the next two days.

what is the whole matter

After the declaration of NEET results on June 4, there was anger among the students regarding the paper leak. First of all, the news of paper leak in Bihar in this examination had gained prominence. After that, when the results came, no one was able to digest points like 67 toppers in the examination and many toppers coming from the same examination center, two answers to one question, grace marks etc. At the same time, students angry at the National Testing Agency demonstrated across the country regarding manipulation of results and paper leaks.

On suspicion of paper leak in the examination, a series of petitions started in High Courts across the country demanding re-examination. After this, the process of hearing all the petitions simultaneously started in the Supreme Court. In this hearing, all the issues ranging from Bihar paper leak to investigation of Hazaribagh, Sikar and Godhra cases, two answers to one question, CBI investigation etc. were debated. The Supreme Court bench, after hearing the debate on all aspects, decided that a decision on this would have to be given as soon as possible, because students cannot be kept hanging under any circumstances. Keeping this in mind, the Supreme Court has given its verdict today.
