Google is about to hit millions of YouTube users hard in the new year. Watching videos on YouTube without ads will be more expensive. The company will reportedly increase the price of its YouTube Premium subscription plan starting in January. The company recently increased YouTube subscription plans globally. YouTube’s new premium subscription plan will take effect on January 13, 2025. In this case, users can purchase subscription plans at the old rates before January 12.
According to The Verge, YouTube Premium subscription plans will become more expensive starting on January 13, 2025 next year. The company will charge $10 more than before. According to reports, the basic plan of YouTube Premium currently costs $72.99. After the package rate adjustment, users will spend $82.99. This will cost users an additional $10 to purchase YouTube Premium.
Will prices rise in India too?
India has not yet announced a price increase for YouTube Premium. Just a few months ago, the company had increased the price of YouTube Premium plans in India. However, whenever YouTube Premium Plan rates increase in global markets, sooner or later the impact is felt in India as well. The company said that in order to improve the platform’s services, it will increase the rates of packages so that users can get better quality. After the new rates are implemented from January 13, users will spend more in the first billing cycle. However, the company will not discontinue existing promotions and trial offers, they will continue as before.
For the YouTube premium plan in India, individual users have to spend Rs 149 per month. Meanwhile, students also spend Rs 89 per month. For the family plan, it charges Rs 299 per month in India. For the prepaid monthly plan, users have to spend Rs 159 per month. Meanwhile, the quarterly plan costs Rs 459 and the annual plan costs Rs 1,490.
