New Delhi, Dec 16 (PTI) Tech giant Google on Monday announced the appointment of Preeti Lobana as its new country manager and vice president for India.
She succeeds Sanjay Gupta, who was recently promoted to president of Google Asia Pacific.
A press release from Google stated that as the new India country manager and vice president, Lobana will play a key role in shaping Google’s strategy to bring the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) to all customers and promote innovation.
“Preeti, a seasoned Googler with eight years of experience as VP of Customer-Centric Solutions, will now lead sales and operations for Google India, driving the company’s commitment to India’s booming digital economy.”
Sanjay Gupta, president of Google Asia Pacific, said India’s vibrant digital landscape has been a source of tremendous inspiration and innovation for the company.
“AI will redefine the boundaries of what is possible, and I am extremely pleased to welcome my colleague Preeti as our new country manager…Preeti’s leadership will serve as we deepen our engagement with India’s unique ecosystem, leverage AI advancements such as Gemini 2.0 will accelerate digital inclusion and unlock unprecedented economic opportunities for every Indian,” Gupta said.
In her new role, Lobana will work closely with Roma Datta Chobey, who serves as interim country manager, and will continue to serve as managing director of digital native industries at Google India.
According to the press release, Lobana has more than 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles in the technology and financial industries, giving her a deep understanding of the evolving Indian landscape.
Her career has been characterized by a consistent focus on business transformation, operational excellence and customer experience.
Most recently, she served as Google’s Vice President of gTech – Process, Partners, Publisher Operations, Ad Content and Quality Operations, where she led global teams and drove innovative advertising solutions and support Google’s customers and partners.
Prior to joining Google, she held leadership roles at NatWest Group, American Express, Standard Chartered Bank and ANZ Grindlays Bank, focusing on areas such as business strategy, product management and operational excellence in different markets in India.
Lobana is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, with a proven track record of successfully driving change and transformation within large, complex organizations, building high-performing teams and fostering collaboration among diverse talent, Google said.
“I’m extremely excited to take on this role and lead Google’s work in India… There is a powerful synergy between India’s dynamic spirit and Google’s cutting-edge technology,” Lobana said.
