“Give me an olive.” The prisoner asked me this food before being sentenced to death, and the reason will surprise you

But in 1968, when 28-year-old Victor Harry Feguer was sentenced to death, his last meal became a topic of discussion.

Victor Harry Feigl was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a doctor. For his last meal, Feigl asked for an olive with a pit in it. Henry Hargreaves, who photographed the prisoners’ meals, said: “It’s a different picture. We think the last meal is a man who wants to eat a full meal, but he only asks for an olive.”

It is believed that Feigl only ate olives because he hoped that after his body was buried, an olive tree would grow on it, which would be a “symbol of peace.” His last words before his death were reportedly: “I sincerely hope that I am the last one to leave.”

The Case of Victor Harry Feigl

According to official sources, an American man, Victor Harry Feigel, was looking for some kind of medicine. To do this, he collected the contact information of Dr. Edward Bartels from the Yellow Pages and called him to pretend to be a patient. He reported a false case with an address. When the doctor arrived at the scene immediately, Feigel misled him and took him to another place. He kidnapped the doctor’s place. When the doctor refused to give the medicine, Feigel murdered him.

A few days after the murder, the FBI caught the killer trying to sell the doctor’s car. Despite all the evidence against him, including the car, the murder weapon, and Bartel’s body, Feigl maintained his innocence. After several appeals, he was convicted and sentenced to death.
