Girl missing from Ranchi 24 days ago found in Lucknow, raped and thrown away by truck driver

A 13-year-old minor girl who went missing from Jharkhand’s capital Ranchi has been found in Lucknow, UP after 24 days. Police said that the Ranchi girl who went missing last month was rescued safely in Lucknow and two people have been arrested in this case.

According to the news agency report, the girl’s family said that they had lodged a missing person’s complaint after their daughter did not return from school on August 16. Tamar police station in-charge Roshan Kumar said that the girl told investigators that a young man took her to Bundu bus stand on August 16 and later another young man took her to Patna.

Truck driver raped a minor

Citing the girl’s statement, he said, “The other man left her in a truck in Patna and fled. The truck driver allegedly raped her and dumped her in Lucknow.”

Station House Officer Roshan Kumar said, ‘On the basis of the FIR lodged on Sunday, we have arrested two people. Many links are missing in their statements. We are trying to connect them through different means.’

He said that the case has been registered under sections related to rape and human trafficking as well as the POCSO Act. SP Rati Bhan Singh said, ‘We have started the investigation and are verifying the claims made by the victim in the FIR.’

Social activist Baidyanath Kumar, who has been following the case since the missing complaint was lodged, claimed that the girl was sold to a truck driver in Patna.

He claimed, ‘The girl was found by the local police in Lucknow on August 20, then they handed her over to the Government Girls Home in Lucknow without registering any FIR.’
