Chanting of “Jai Shri Ram” sparked controversy in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. Regarding this, Maulvi lodged a complaint with someone. The police later intervened and took action against him for disturbing the peace and other charges. The matter involves the posh Panchsheel Wellington Society of Crossing police station area.
Meanwhile, the wife and partner of arrested Manoj Prajapati accused the police of taking a unilateral action. He said there was a temple underneath the society. Manoj came to his apartment from the society lift via the temple and said “Jai Shri Ram”. Later, an argument broke out between Maulvi and Manoj who entered the elevator. To this, Manoj said that he was not asking him to say “Jai Shri Ram” but no one can stop him from saying “Jai Shri Ram”.
According to Manoj Prajapati’s wife, the dispute escalated thereafter and after some time, the police came to his house, grabbed her husband and took him away. Based on Maulvi’s complaint, the police took away her husband. This is a unilateral action.
On the other hand, the complainant in the entire incident, Maulvi Mohammad Alamgir, stated that he went to the society to teach Arabic to a child. On the day of the incident, around 8 o’clock, when I was going to the society, a man (Manoj) in the elevator raised the slogan “Jai Shri Ram” and asked me to raise the slogan too. As things escalated, he called one of his friends. He was then forcibly removed from the elevator for being rude.
At present, the police have registered a case on Maulvi’s complaint, arrested the defendant Manoj Prajapati, and issued a summons for violating public order and other crimes. ACP Lipi Nagayach said the complainant Alamgir made charges of molestation and assault against Manoj, who lives in the Republic community of Police Station Crossing, upon which the police registered a case with the relevant departments and arrested the accused. Further action is being taken in the case.
