Congress leader Rahul Gandhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the central government over India’s growth rate. In addition, he also talked about how the country’s economy is developing rapidly and what the government has to do to achieve this. Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, said that India’s GDP growth rate has dropped to the lowest in two years, 5.4%. He said it was clear that India’s economy could not progress unless only a few people benefited from it. The country’s farmers, workers, middle class and poor are struggling with various economic problems.
The Congress leader also shared some data while posting on X. He also expressed concern about the numbers. He said retail inflation has risen to its highest level in 14 months at 6.21%. Compared with October last year, the price of potatoes and onions has increased by about 50% this year. Apart from this, the rupee has fallen to its lowest level of 84.50.
Rahul says – Unemployment rate breaks 45-year record
He said the country’s unemployment rate has reached a 45-year high. In the past five years, the incomes of workers, employees and small traders have either stagnated or dropped significantly. As income decreases, so does demand. The share of sales of cars priced below Rs 10 lakh has fallen to less than 50 per cent from 80 per cent in 2018-19.
India’s GDP growth has fallen to its lowest level in two years, 5.4%.
The reason is clear – India’s economy cannot progress as long as a few billionaires benefit while farmers, workers, middle class and poor all struggle with various economic problems.

Home sales also fell
Raising a question about affordable home sales, the Congress leader said their share of total home sales has fallen to about 22%, compared with 38% last year. On top of this, demand for fast-moving consumer goods is already declining. Over the past 10 years, the share of corporate taxes has dropped by 7%, while the share of income taxes has increased by 11%.
“Everyone must get equal opportunities”
He further said that due to the impact of demonetisation and GST, the share of manufacturing in the national economy has dropped to just 13 per cent, the lowest level in 50 years. How to create new jobs in this situation? Therefore, the national economy needs new thinking, and the New Business Deal is an important part of it. Our economic wheels will move forward only if everyone has an equal opportunity for advancement.
