Gautam Adani: The college which did not give admission to Adani, called him for a lecture… he narrated the story of his success!

You must have heard many stories of Gautam Adani, but today we are going to tell you about a story which is related to his admission. Industrialist Gautam Adani had applied to study in a college in Mumbai for education in the 1970s, but the college did not accept his application. He then did not study further and moved towards business and today his name is counted among the richest people in the world.

The same college invited him to deliver a lecture on Teachers’ Day. The college was Jai Hind, whose alumni association chairman Vikram Nankani, speaking about Gautam Adani, said that he moved to Mumbai at the age of 16. He applied for admission to the city’s Jai Hind College in 1977 or 1978, but his application was rejected. His elder brother Vinod studied in the same college.

Nankani made the revelation after the lecture
After Gautam Adani’s lecture, Nankani revealed that Gautam Adani is an ‘alumnus’ of this college. However, fortunately or unfortunately, the college did not accept his application and he started working on his own and took up an alternative career. He worked as a diamond sorter in Mumbai for two years, after which he moved to Gujarat.

When did you start the company?
Gautam Adani started his commodity trading company in 1998. In the next 2.5 years, his companies entered sectors like ports, mines, infrastructure, power, city gas, renewable energy, cement and data centers. Today Gautam Adani is a big name in the world.

Why did Gautam Adani leave his studies
Speaking on ‘Breaking Boundaries: The Power of Passion and Unconventional Paths to Success’, Gautam Adani said that when he was 16 years old, he decided to break his first boundary. He said that this was to leave studies and move towards business. Gautam Adani said that many people ask, “Why did you move to Mumbai? Why did you not complete your education?” He said that I had the courage to do something in this city. Mumbai was my training place for business. Here I learned to do business. It is Mumbai that taught me to think big. You have to first have the courage to dream beyond your limits.
