The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed a chargesheet against four accused in the high-profile Rameswaram cafe blast case in Bengaluru. The accused have been identified as Musavir Hussain Shajib, Abdul Mathin Ahmed Taha, Maaz Munir Ahmed and Muzammil Sharif. The chargesheet has been filed against them under relevant sections of the IPC, UA(P) Act, Explosive Substances Act and PDLP Act.

In this charge sheet, NIA has made many big revelations. It has been told that the South Module of ISIS had conspired to carry out an IED attack on the BJP District Headquarters in Malleswaram, Bengaluru on the day of Ram Mandir Prana Pratishtha ceremony held in Ayodhya on 22 January. ISIS Al Hind Module is the main mastermind behind this. Sitting abroad, the terrorist Mehboob Pasha was directing the mastermind to carry out the attack under the code name. But after the conspiracy failed, a blast was carried out in the cafe.

On March 1 this year, nine people were injured in an IED blast at Rameswaram Cafe in Brookfield, ITPL Bengaluru. The blast caused heavy damage to the hotel property. The NIA started investigating the case on March 3. The investigation revealed that Musavir Hussainshajib was the person who planted the bomb. He absconded with Abdul Mathin Ahmed Taha after the Al-Hind module was busted in 2020.

They were arrested in West Bengal 42 days after the Rameswaram cafe blast. Both of them, hailing from Shivamogga district of Karnataka, are associated with the terrorist organization ISIS. They had earlier conspired to migrate to ISIS areas in Syria. They were actively involved in radicalizing other innocent Muslim youths in the ideology of ISIS. Maaz Munir Ahmed and Muzammil Sharif were among such youths.

Taha and Shajib used fraudulent SIM cards and bank accounts. They also used Indian and Bangladeshi identity documents downloaded from the dark web. Investigation further revealed that Taha was introduced to Mohammad Shahid Faisal by terrorist Shoaib Ahmed Mirza, who is absconding in the LeT Bengaluru module case. Taha then introduced Faisal to his handler Mehboob Pasha, Amir Khaja Mohideen and later to Maaz Munir Ahmed.

His handler funded him through crypto currency, which Taha converted into fiat with the help of various Telegram-based P2P platforms. Investigation further revealed that the accused used the funds to carry out violence at various places in Bengaluru. This included a failed IED attack on the BJP office in Malleswaram, Bengaluru on the day of the Prana Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024.
