This concept is once again revealed to the world, and a device that once appeared briefly in the field of communication suddenly appears in the news again – the pager.

Fighters of the Lebanese extremist group Hezbollah were attacked by pagers. In this attack, which was allegedly planned by Israel, 5,000 pagers were blown up and more than 3,000 people were injured. The pager, a device whose name may have never been heard of by a whole generation, is the most popular device in the world today.

When the world moved from landline phones to mobile phones, pagers came into the picture. Like any other communication device, pagers did not become so popular, and even before it reached everyone’s hands, the storm called mobile had reached everywhere. But in the field of communication, pagers, although not as popular as mobile phones, are also popular in popular culture.

There was a time when pagers also managed to hold the position of a “cool” device in movies and played a major role in them. Recently, the device has also made cameos in some hit movies. Let us tell you about some of the moments in movies where pagers made a big splash, and these moments are pretty iconic…

Pushpraj’s Pager
Pegg had a cameo in Allu Arjun’s 2021 blockbuster Pushpa. The film’s protagonist, Pushpa Raj (Allu Arjun), is a porter-turned-gangster who starts adding things to himself to show that he has money and status.

You must remember Pushpraj’s red Maruti van, but if you watch the movie carefully, during this phase of showing off his swag, Pushpraj also gets a pager. On the same pager, he gets a message that the police will raid his base for suspected smuggling.

Pager and “Pappu Pager” were the stars of the 90s.
Bobby Deol also used a pager in his spy film of the time, Soldier. This is one of the proofs of how “cool” Lord Bobby was in the 90s. During that period, Pegg was also often seen with Shah Rukh Khan. From Yes Boss to Badshah, the duo’s Jugalbandhi was seen in many films. However, the greatest pager moment in 90s Bollywood was “Pappu Pager.” In Govinda and Anil Kapoor’s 1997 film Deevana Mastana, Satish Kaushik played a “brother” from Mumbai named Pappu Pager who always had a pager in his hand.

The second part of Gangs of Wasseypur, released in 2012, is set in the 90s, when Nawazuddin Siddiqui sets out to avenge his father, grandfather and brother. Along comes the pager, which was part of the popular language of that era. Dude’s Pager
Those who are keen on Hollywood movies know what a cult movie The Big Lebowski is. The humor, black comedy, dialogues, and actions of the characters in this movie became the inspiration for many subsequent movies.

The main character of the film, “The Dude” aka Jeffrey Lebowski (actor Jeff Bridges) is a career-oriented character and a big fan of bowling. However, later on, just because of his name, he gets into pointless situations and has to get involved in a kidnapping. There is a scene in the movie where “The Dude” shows off a pager in front of his friends. It is one of the funniest scenes in the film.
