December 14, 2024: Raj Kapoor’s birth centenary celebrations take place in Mumbai with a star-studded gathering to commemorate 100 years of the legendary filmmaker’s extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema. At a film festival, the Kapoor family, one of Bollywood’s most iconic dynasties, gathered to honor their patriarch.
The event was attended by key members of the Kapoor family – Randhir Kapoor, Rima Jain, Babita, Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, showcasing their pride in preserving and celebrating Raj Kapoor’s legacy .
Ranbir Kapoor attended the opening ceremony of the film festival with his wife Alia Bhatt, wearing a black Bandhgala suit and sporting a mustache reminiscent of Raj Kapoor’s An iconic look that pays homage to my grandfather. Alia, on the other hand, looked stunning in a white floral print saree.
Kareena Kapoor arrived with husband Saif Ali Khan in elegant ethnic wear, while Karisma Kapoor was beautiful in Saree, dazzling.
Karisma shared a heartwarming photo with her parents Randhir Kapoor and Babita before attending the event and captioned it: “The most precious 💖 #RajKapoor100.”
Aadar Jain and Navya Nanda were also present along with veteran actor Prem Chopra and his son-in-law Sharman Joshi this film festival. The event is part of a larger initiative led by RK Films, Film Heritage Foundation and National Film Archive of India (NFDC) to showcase 10 of Raj Kapoor’s iconic films in 40 cities, These include Avala, Shri420, my name is clownand bobby.
Members of the Kapoor family met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi ahead of the festival, adding a special touch to the celebrations. At the event, the Prime Minister was invited to join the celebrations and Kareena Kapoor shared charming photos from the interaction. One of the highlights was Prime Minister Modi’s generous autographs for her sons Taimur and Jhe, much to the delight of fans on social media. Kareena expressed gratitude for the warm gesture and thanked the Prime Minister for his support in commemorating Raj Kapoor’s immortal legacy.
The festival, which kicked off on December 13 and will run until December 15, provides movie fans with a fantastic opportunity to experience the magic of Raj Kapoor’s films and celebrate his lasting impact on the Indian film industry.
