December 4, 2024: As the 100th birth anniversary of one of India’s greatest filmmakers, Raj Kapoor, approaches, his granddaughter, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan) to pay tribute to his legacy.

Kareena took to Instagram to share the official poster for the centenary celebrations of her grandfather, fondly known as “India’s Greatest Showman”, inviting fans to a special screening of Raj Kapoor’s most iconic film.

In her heartfelt message, Karina wrote:

As part of the celebrations, movie tickets are priced at just Rs 100 across all participating theaters, making it an affordable yet meaningful event for movie lovers. Screenings will include classic films such as Yage, Barsat, Avala, Shri420, Which country has better Ganga than me?, my name is clown, bobby, Ram Terry Ganga Mailiand others who shaped the landscape of Indian cinema.

Raj Kapoor’s grandson, actor Ranbir Kapoor, also attended an event at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 to commemorate his grandfather’s legacy. Talking about restoring Raj Kapoor’s films, Ranbir highlighted the collective effort behind bringing his grandfather’s classic back to life. The restoration process is a joint initiative by the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), National Film Archive of India (NFAI) and Film Heritage Foundation.

Ranbir shared on IFFI:
“It’s important that we remember our roots – not just Raj Kapoor but the many filmmakers and artists who have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.”

This restoration ensures that Raj Kapoor’s iconic work will continue to be enjoyed by new generations of moviegoers.
