A major fraud has come to light in 27 schools of Delhi and Rajasthan. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had conducted several surprise inspections to identify dummy schools in these two states. After the raid, CBSE said that 27 affiliated schools in Delhi and Rajasthan were found violating its bye-laws, especially regarding the admission and attendance of students.

CBSE found irregularities in 27 schools like more number of students enrolled than the prescribed standard and less number of children as per the number. The number of children in 11th and 12th class was more than the norms. When the attendance register was checked, it was found that the number of children coming to school is much less than the number of children shown as enrolled. That is, the schools did not have space to seat as many children in the class as the number of children enrolled. Apart from this, irregularities were also found in the attendance maintained by these schools, due to which the CBSE board raised doubts about the compliance of the rules.

CBSE sent a notice and asked for a reply

The board has released the list of all 27 schools. These include five schools in Rajasthan (two from Sikar and three from Kota) and 22 schools in Delhi (East and West Region). CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta has issued show cause notices to these schools. The board has sought answers from all the identified schools in Delhi and Rajasthan regarding compliance with the standards of admission of students and infrastructure. CBSE says that it is committed to ensuring the highest standards of education and will continue to continuously monitor compliance in all its institutions.
