Jeremy Corbyn, the former leader of the Labour Party, has joined four other independent MPs to form the joint fifth largest group in the House of Commons. The new independent coalition has tried to include more members, overtaking the Green Party in numbers and matching the number of Reform UK MPs. Seven of Corbyn’s allies were suspended from the Parliamentary Labour Party.

In the July election, all five members of the group defeated Labor Party candidates in Muslim-majority constituencies by taking a pro-Palestinian stance. The Independent Alliance says it will use its new platform to campaign. These organizations are against selling weapons to Israel.

According to information, former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has announced the formation of a new “Independent Alliance” on Monday. This alliance has a pro-Palestine stance. This alliance includes four newly elected British Muslim MPs. These include Shaukat Adam and Iqbal Mohammad of Indian origin, and Ayub Khan and Adnan Hussain of Pakistani origin.

This coalition contested the general election held on July 4 on a strong anti-Israel platform. Now, these MPs are hoping to participate in the debates and committees of the House of Commons (UK Parliament) as an official parliamentary group, so that they can get better representation in the Parliament.

“We were elected by our voters to be a beacon of hope in a depressing parliament,” the new coalition said in a statement. It criticised government policies that have scrapped the winter fuel allowance for 10 million pensioners, halted the two-child allowance and ignored calls to halt arms sales to Israel.

Corbyn, after being expelled from the Labour Party, contested the election as an independent candidate in the Islington North constituency of London and defeated Labour candidate Praful Nargund. Shaukat Adam defeated Labour’s Jonathan Ashworth in Leicester South, while Iqbal Mohammed won more than 40 percent of the vote in Dewsbury and Batley. Ayub Khan was elected MP for Birmingham Perry Barr and Adnan Hussain for Blackburn in northern England.

These five MPs have been united by their clear position on the Gaza conflict and the demand to stop the sale of arms to Israel. Now this group is hoping that they will get better representation in Parliament in Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) and other debates.
