Amritsar: Akal Takht has imposed severe punishment on former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal. Along with Badal, other cabinet members during the Shiromani Akali Dal government were also sentenced. Under this punishment, all these people were ordered to serve as “Sevadaar” at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and clean dirty utensils and shoes. Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh gave this order from the ‘Faseel’ (platform) of Akal Takht. After the punishment was announced, the Shiromani Akali Dal Working Committee asked Sukhbir Badal to resign as party president.

Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday admitted that he was instrumental in getting Dera chief Ram Rahim pardoned during the Akali Dal government. Jasedhar instructed other Akali leaders such as Sucha Singh Langa, Hira Singh Gabria, Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Daljit Singh Cheema and Gulzar Singh clean the bathroom of the Golden Temple for an hour and then clean the utensils at the Guru Kalangar Service. .
The leaders were also ordered to listen to kirtan for one hour.
Akali leaders like Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prem Singh Chandumajra, Surjit Singh Rekhda, Bikram Singh Majithia, Mahesh Inder Singh Greenwal, Charanjit Singh Atwal and Aadesh Pratap Singh Kairon were also asked to clean the bathrooms of the Golden Temple.
