A UPSC student has moved the Supreme Court in connection with the death of three students due to drowning in the basement of Rau’s IAS Coaching Center in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. The student has demanded the court to intervene in this matter as soon as possible.

A student named Avinash Dubey has said in the letter that due to mismanagement in areas like Old Rajendra Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar, students are living like insects. The students here are living a hellish life.

Dubey said that I request you to take action against those responsible for the death of three students and protect our constitutional rights.

The student has urged the Supreme Court to issue instructions to the concerned authorities to find a solution to the problem of waterlogging in areas like Old Rajendra Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar.

Dubey said that students in areas like Rajendra Nagar and Mukherjee Nagar are forced to live a hellish life. Due to blockage of drains, rain water reaches inside the houses. We have to walk in knee-deep water. Delhi government and MCD are forcing us to live like insects. It is our fundamental right to study while living a healthy life. But unfortunately Delhi Government and MCD are not paying any attention to this.

Let us tell you that last Saturday the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle Institute in Old Rajendra Nagar was filled with water. Three students had died due to drowning in this water. They were identified as Shreya Yadavas of Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni of Telangana and Nevin Dalvin of Kerala.

How did the accident happen?

No official statement has come on this yet. Initial investigation has revealed that there was heavy rain on Saturday, due to which the road was flooded. Due to lack of drainage system, this water filled the basement of the coaching centre.

Many videos of this incident are going viral on social media, in which many students are seen trying to save themselves from drowning. In a video, the main entry gate of the coaching center is seen collapsing due to heavy rains, due to which the basement was flooded.

It is being told that there was only one way to enter and leave the basement. Some students have alleged that the biometric system of entry-exit had broken down, due to which the students were stuck here.
