Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Babu Lal Marandi and Champai Soren.
As the date for Jharkhand polls approaches, the BJP has made a major change in its strategy. After Champai Soren, Arjun Munda and Babu Lal Marandi also disappeared from the BJP posters. There was a lot of discussion going on simultaneously in Jharkhand regarding the disappearance of Marandi and Munda from the posters.
Babu Lal Marandi is the state president of the Jharkhand BJP and so far has been described as the face of the chief minister, but in a post released by the BJP Marandi and former chief minister Arjun Munda were absent from the manifesto poster.
The look of BJP posters has changed
The posters released by the BJP have changed in appearance. In the poster, only Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been given space for the lotus symbol. In this canvassing poster, it reads “Care for daughters, bread and soil”.
The poster mentioned the plans that the BJP will implement after coming to power in the government. The theme of this poster is the promise of the BJP. The BJP also released a manifesto of the same name in Jharkhand.
Earlier on September 19, the BJP released a poster. The theme of this poster is change. In this poster, along with Narendra Modi, JP Nadda, Babu Lal Marandi, Arjun Munda were given seats and Amar Kumar Bauri.
Amar Kumar Bauri is currently the Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly.
Why did Marandi disappear from the poster?
Babu Lal Marandi’s disappearance from the new BJP poster is the most talked about topic. Apart from being the state president, Babu Lal Marandi is also a contender for the chief minister’s post. Marandi himself appears in every poster. In this case, why did Marandi abandon this poster?
1. Sources associated with the BJP said Babu Lal Marandi is currently the state president and a contender for the chief minister’s post. If the party puts Marandi’s picture on the poster along with that of the Prime Minister, it will clearly convey the message that Marandi is the image of the Prime Minister. The BJP is formulating a strategy to enter the fray in Jharkhand without any CM face.
The party fears that going to the polls unilaterally could backfire. The BJP is trying to win Jharkhand through tactics in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, so Marandi disappeared from the posters.
2. The BJP has laid its foundation in Jharkhand. The party has largely halted all post-nomination rebellions. The party is now trying to fight on a central face rather than a local face, so the BJP has come up with Modi’s face. That is why the big leaders of the BJP did not directly attack Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
The BJP is conducting elections in the name of issues and change. The party has made infiltration and corruption a big issue in Jharkhand.
3. Babu Lal Marandi had complete control over the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but despite this, Marandi could not work miracles in the tribal areas. The Indian alliance won five tribal-dominated seats in Jharkhand.
Following this, the BJP is formulating another strategy to woo tribal voters in Jharkhand. About 26% of tribal voters live in Jharkhand.
4. People within the Bharatiya Janata Party said that after its resounding victory in the Jharkhand assembly elections, the party wanted to control the damage to its image in the Lok Sabha and therefore raised the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Also understand the political message of the poster
The BJP has raised the profile of Modi in Jharkhand. This means that now there is no chief minister’s face in the state. States where the BJP has won so far in front of Modi. A CM contender is yet to win the chairmanship in these states.
From Rajasthan to Odisha and from Tripura to Madhya Pradesh are such examples. In this situation, some say that if the BJP government comes to power in Jharkhand, a new face can take over as the CM chairman.
Currently, Babu Lal Marandi, Arjun Munda, Champai Soren and Amar Kumar Bauri are the contenders for the CM post.
