Before becoming Hezbollah chairman, Hashim Safiedine was responsible for the organization’s political affairs and served as chairman of its executive committee. Hashim is also chairman of the Jihad Council, which plans the group’s military operations. The United States declared Hashim a terrorist in 2017. Saudi Arabia also blacklisted him for working for Hezbollah and supporting the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria. Hashim Safiedine is outspoken on the Palestinian issue.
