Domestic and international flights have been receiving false bomb threats over the past few days. The central government has since condemned social media platform X and held it accountable for its promotion.
The central government said, why don’t they (X) take any real action to deal with this rumor? Social media is promoting such crimes.
The social media platform was condemned during a virtual meeting held by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The meeting was also attended by airline officials and officials from social media platforms X and Meta.
Let us tell you that earlier Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu had said that prank calls to airlines will now be kept under the cognizable offense category. The move comes after a number of airlines for some time received false calls about bombs being planted on their planes.
He told a news conference that it was a very sensitive situation and said people making such prank calls would be placed on the airline’s no-fly list.
Naidu said time and time again we receive such scam calls. We had several meetings about this. We held meetings at all levels. After these meetings, we came to the conclusion that we needed to change the rules.
