‘Every athlete is the pride of India’, PM Modi’s best wishes to the Indian players going to Paris Olympics

Paris Olympics 2024: The Paris Olympic Games have started late Friday evening (Indian time). It will end on August 11. India has sent a team of 117 players for the Paris Olympics. The team of these 117 members includes half the players from three sports – athletics (29), shooting (21) and hockey (19). Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated all these players.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while wishing him on Friday said that every athlete is the pride of India. “My best wishes to the Indian contingent as the Paris Olympics begins. Every athlete is the pride of India. May they all shine and embrace the true spirit of sportsmanship, inspire us with their extraordinary performances,” he said on X.

India’s Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated the players on X. He wrote, “The time is getting closer! The opening ceremony of the #ParisOlympics2024 will begin soon, and the Indian contingent is all set to show its might on the world stage. I wish them all the best!”

BRS leader KTR also expressed his support towards the players. KTR highlighted the potential for India to create history and surpass the 7 medals won at Tokyo Olympics 2020, which is the country’s highest tally till date. KTR said, “We wish the entire team all the best. We are united in their support, cheering for their success and celebrating their journey. May each athlete have the strength and determination to perform at their best.” May it bring glory and honor to our country.”

Earlier in the day, central sports and Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana urged the countrymen to cheer for Team India in the Paris Olympics. On the occasion of the launch of this campaign, Mansukh Mandaviya also presented a memorable t-shirt of the Indian team to Ayushmann. Ayushmann wrote on social media, “Olympics is the biggest sporting event in the world and the players participating in it are no less than titans in their sport. We have 117 such brilliant athletes who will keep our flag flying high in this year’s #Paris2024 Olympics. Ready to do!”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also congratulated the players. He wrote on Twitter, “On behalf of the Congress, I join the nation in wishing our incredibly talented Indian athletes all the best for the Paris Olympics. Your dedication, tenacity and passion have brought you to this global stage. With your performance, India Make you proud, and may your soul fly high like the tricolor, and create memories that will inspire generations to come.”
