England WAGs to fly to Germany and meet their footballer beaus at team HQ ahead of the Three Lions’ quarter final fixture against Switzerland

England WAGs are set to fly to Germany today to spend time with their footballing beaus following the team’s win on Sunday.

The Three Lions seemed set to crash out of Euro 2024, after they spent the whole match last-16 match trailing one-nil to Slovakia.

However, with Jude Bellingham equalising with a goal five minutes into stoppage time, followed by Harry Kane scoring minutes later, the squad scraped through into the next round. They will now face Switzerland in the quarter-finals, in a match in Dusseldorf on July 6.

Before then though, the team will have the opportunity to meet up with their partners, according to The Mirror.

While it’s unknown exactly who will be visiting the team HQ today, the WAGs include Luke Shaw’s long-term partner Anouska Santos, Bukayo Saka’s girlfriend Tolami Benson, and Jarrod Bowen’s partner Dani Dyer among others.

It’s been reported that the wives and girlfriends of the players will take to private jets to Erfurt airport.

They will then travel to the Weimarer Golf and Spa resort in blacked-out vans, where they will spend up to four hours with their partners.

It’s believed they will return to the UK, before flying out again to watch their footballing partners take on Switzerland later in the week.

The short visit comes after England captain Harry Kane revealed that some players described the previous seven-hour visit with their partners as ‘a bit long’.

As a result, the team – who have been given today off – will spend the rest of their free day relaxing, and perhaps making advantage of the golf course they are staying at.

Rather than staying in Germany for the duration of Euro 2024, the WAGs have been travelling from England to watch matches and see their partners, then flying back.

According to reports, manager Gareth Southgate sees the WAGs as vital to team morale.

And a source has been cited as saying that despite England’s lacklustre performance at the Euros so far, the players have been ‘rewarded’ by visits from their loved ones – and that these meetings had always been on the schedule after each game.

Other WAGs include Jordan Pickford’s wife Megan Davison, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s girlfriend Iris Law, Jude Bellingham’s girlfriend, Dutch model Laura Celia Valk, Aaron Ramsdale’s wife Georgina Irwin and Joe Gomez’s wife Tara.

They are joined by John Stones’ girlfriend Olivia Naylor, Kieran Trippier’s wife Charlotte, Kyle Walker’s wife Annie Kilner, Declan Rice’s girlfriend Lauren Fryer, Harry Kane’s wife Katie Goodland, Ollie Watkins’ girlfriend Ellie Alderson, and Phil Fodens’ girlfriend Rebecca Cooke.

England’s current crop of WAGs have been described as ‘less cliquey’ and more ‘low maintenance’ compared with previous counterparts who controversially dominated the headlines during high profile international tournaments.

For example, the 2006 batch of WAGs dominated the headlines during that year’s World Cup in Germany.

They were regularly featured in the media and became known for big sunglasses, designer bags and hair extensions.

At that time, the WAGs were said to be divided into two cliques; one led by Victoria who it was alleged only ever spoke with Cheryl Tweedy, who was dating Ashley Cole at the time and ‘looked down’ on the others.

A rival clique was led by Coleen McLoughlin, then Wayne Rooney’s finance and was made up of Alex Curran, the wife of Steven Gerrard; Elen Rivas, who was then engaged to Frank Lampard and Carly Zuker, who was dating Joe Cole at the time.

They were all staying in the £1,000 per night Brenner’s Park Hotel in the spa town on the edge of the Black Forest and regularly hit a local nightclub where bottles of champagne cost £200.

Reports at the time claimed Victoria had bought 30 pairs of jeans with her while Coleen was said to have insisted on bringing her spray tanning expert with her.

A source said: ‘When Coleen’s group would go out shopping, spending thousands of pounds or for other trips, they wouldn’t invite Victoria and Cheryl along. But Victoria was the undisputed top WAG, and nobody messed with her.

‘The current group is not like this at all. They are not party girls and don’t really set fashion trends like Victoria and some of the others did. You won’t see them going to night clubs in Germany and then appearing in the press the next day.’
