Police arrested Shafiullah, accused of raping a minor in Deoria, UP, after an encounter. Last Sunday, he had escaped from custody by dodging the police. After which the police immediately formed three teams and caught Shafiullah during an encounter near Sonughat at around 2 am. He was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition where he is undergoing treatment. The accused has been shot in the right leg.
It is noteworthy that on Sunday morning, in a colony of Sadar Kotwali area, a seven-year-old girl went to a shop in her own locality to buy milk. Where the shopkeeper raped her inside the shop. When the girl’s crying voice was heard, people reached there and saw the girl in a mess. On this, they started beating the accused shopkeeper.
Gradually, a crowd of people started gathering. The police took the accused into custody. Despite this, the people of the locality were quite agitated, due to which a large number of police force was deployed. Police was also deployed at the shop and house of the accused. BJP MLA of the area Shalabhmani Tripathi also reached the spot. After the assurance of strict action by the police, the crowd gradually dispersed but due to the tense situation, the police remained deployed in the locality even at night.
Meanwhile, the accused’s health deteriorated in police custody at night, due to which the police was taking him to the hospital. Then the accused pushed the police and escaped. After this incident, the police was shocked. Three teams were formed in a hurry. SOG was also deployed. During the raid, the accused got shot in the leg during a police encounter near Sonughat at around 2 o’clock in the night and he was arrested and admitted to the hospital.
In the case, Additional SP Dipendra Nath Chaudhary said that the accused of raping a 7-year-old girl in Sadar Kotwali area was arrested by the Kotwali police during the day. While being taken to the hospital at night on the complaint of his ill health, the accused escaped by pushing the police. Three teams were formed to search for the accused. In the police encounter with the search team at night, the accused was shot in the leg, after which he was arrested and admitted to the hospital.
