Elections till 2024: Wayanad Nanded confirms polling dates, find out when by-elections will be held for the country’s 48 parliamentary seats.

The Election Commission has announced the dates for by-elections for 48 seats in 15 states across the country. The election will be held in two phases. Voting for 47 seats will be held on November 13, and one seat will be voted on on November 20. Apart from this, the Election Commission also announced by-elections for two Lok Sabha seats. These elections will also be held in two phases.

The two Lok Sabha seats where by-elections will be held include Wayanad in Kerala and Nanded in Maharashtra. Polling for Wayanad seat will be held on November 13 and polling for Nanded seat will be held on November 20. In fact, the Wayanad seat in Kerala fell vacant after Rahul Gandhi resigned. Meanwhile, the seat has fallen vacant following the death of sitting Congress MP Nanded. The results of all these elections will be announced on November 23.

Why are parliamentary seats vacant?

In fact, in 42 of the 48 seats up for election, MLAs have now become MPs. Among them, a maximum of 11 MLAs are from the Congress, while 9 MLAs from the BJP have become MPs. Apart from this, 5-5 MLAs from Samajwadi Party and TMC have become MPs. In addition, 12 provincial legislators from other political parties have also become members of parliament, leaving seats vacant. At the same time, three provincial councilors died, leaving the seats vacant. Apart from this, two MLAs from Sikkim resigned and one MLA from Madhya Pradesh changed parties, leaving the seat vacant.

UP can elect up to 9 seats

Uttar Pradesh is one of the states where by-elections are being held for the state with the most assembly seats. By-elections for a total of 9 seats will be held here. While a total of 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh are going to be subject to by-elections, the Election Commission is yet to declare the election for the Mirkipur seat here. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan has 7 seats, West Bengal has 6 seats, Assam has 5 seats, Bihar and Punjab have 4 seats each, and Karnataka has 3 seats. seats, Madhya Pradesh and Kerala have 2 seats each. 2 seats in Sikkim, 1 seat in Gujarat, 1 seat in Uttarakhand, 1 seat in Chhattisgarh and 1 seat in Meghalaya.

By-elections will be held for these seats

In Uttar Pradesh, the by-elections will be held in Kajal constituency of Mainpuri, Phulpur constituency of Prayagraj, West Samau constituency of Kanpur, Kethari constituency of Ambedkar Nagar, Mt. Jeevan constituency, Ghaziabad Sadar constituency, Aligarh’s Khel constituency, Muzaffarnagar’s Mirapur constituency are held and Kundalki seat of Moradabad. Apart from this, by-elections will be held in Khinvsar, Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Deoli-Uniara, Chaurasi, Salumber and Ramgarh in Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, by-elections will be held in Talari, Ramgarh, Beraganj and Imaganj in Bihar, Budni and Vijaypur in Madhya Pradesh, Barnala, Dera in Punjab By-elections will be held in Baba Nanak, Chabewal and Jidbahar. Apart from this, by-elections have also been announced in Raipur in southern Chhattisgarh and Gambargarh in Meghalaya.
