The Election Commission of India is going to hold an important press conference today at 3 pm in which the election schedule of Jammu and Kashmir will be announced. Apart from this, dates for Haryana Assembly elections can also be announced today. Assembly elections will be held for the first time after the removal of 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The Commission had completed its tour of Jammu Kashmir and Haryana only last week.
If Election Commission sources are to be believed, voting can be conducted in three to four phases in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. After completing the voting process in September, the election results can be announced by the end of this month. According to highly placed sources of the Election Commission, the biggest challenge in the way of conducting elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is security arrangements. The sudden increase in terrorist incidents in recent times has increased the concern of the administration. Its effect can also be seen on the election programme.
