Just ahead of the NBA trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Butler ended his rift with the Heat with the trade while landing on a dream team as he reacted immediately stating that he could play basketball again— a game of his passion.
NBA legend and former Heat star has recently shared his thoughts on Butler jumping ship revealing that it will unlock Butler’s full potential in in the team. In his latest episode of The Why With Dwyane Wade, the 43-year-old showered praise for the veteran. “I mean, this is a three-year play. This an all-in, probably for the next three years in Golden State,” Dwyane Wade shared in his podcast while discussing Butler’s recent Warriors debut.
“When you got one of the greatest players to ever put on a jersey, it is your duty to make sure they have an opportunity when they say ‘I need more,’ to make sure you give him more. And so obviously, they tried to pull off other moves, but this is the move they end up getting,” Wade added.
Wade further asserted that fans will see a new version of Butler as he expects the six-time All-Star will make his move in the roster in The Bay. “I go back to the Jimmy I knew in Marquette, the Jimmy I knew in Chicago at first before he became an All-Star Jimmy,” Wade continued.
“The Jimmy that is just like a wild dog off the leash because he can now just be Jimmy. He don’t have to worry about scoring 56 this night. Now he can, but now he can just be a wild dog off the leash. And that Jimmy is different. That Jimmy can be different, so I’m excited about that,” he added.
Certainly, Butler’s addition to the Warriors is an aid to Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. The roster is now solid and the team has been on the move looking to secure more wins.

As for Butler, he is still making his way into the games, after the Warriors’ 125-111 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, Jimmy Buckets made candid admission about his performance. “You gotta think, I haven’t played basketball in a month. My wind is nowhere close to where it needs to be. I can’t wait until I’m back in basketball shape where I’m used to being,” Butler shared.
“I won’t miss free throws as much. I’ll have to lift on my jump shots. Right now, I’m just gassed. I’m glad we’re winning. But I gotta get in better shape,” he added.

Of course, Butler is trying to find his tune after facing multiple major suspensions in his recent tenure in the Heat. However, he has promised to get in better shape and it may resonate with Wade’s speculation about the NBA star.
