DUSU polls: Ahead of the Delhi University polls this week, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has released the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election notification. Here, all candidates have been asked to remove banners and posters with their names and ballot numbers from the college campus within 24 hours.

Chief Electoral Officer Satyapal Singh said the electoral office was closely monitoring the campaign, including the use of banners, posters and vehicles during rallies. He stressed that all election campaigns should follow the rules set by the Lyngdoh Committee, which provide guidelines for fair elections.

It is worth noting that the DUSU elections will be held on September 27 and the results will be announced a day later. The notice sent via email warned of strict action if the banners and posters were not removed within the stipulated time. The display of printed posters and banners violates the norms laid down by the Lyngdoh Committee and the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007.

The notification reads: “The DUSU Elections Office is closely monitoring the campaign activities of banners, posters and vehicles. These activities should be kept within the limits prescribed by the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations. You will receive this email within 24 hours of receipt. Mail” Please remove all banners and printed posters bearing your name and ballot number from the polling stations, failing which strict action will be taken. “

The notification also reminds candidates to strictly adhere to the code of conduct, Lyngdoh Committee guidelines, National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders and Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007. It states that any violation of these guidelines and regulations may result in disqualification and criminal penalties. Additionally, candidates can only use designated “democracy walls” within the venue to affix handmade posters, the notice said.
