In a conversation with The Lallantop, Meeta Vashishtha said that she did not like the way her character emerged in this iconic film. For the film, he shot a fight scene with Shahrukh Khan, in which there is a fierce fight between the two characters. However, the director ultimately cut this scene from the film. The actress also told that Shahrukh Khan was very sensitive towards her during the shooting of ‘Dil Se’.
Meeta told that Shahrukh Khan had saved her head from getting hurt during the scene. The effect of this was that the superstar got injured on his head. The actress said, ‘He placed his hand behind my head so that I could escape. He is so sensitive, but instead he got hurt. There was a cut on his head and the entire unit was troubled. But he said- everything is fine. Don’t worry. Get some ice.’ Meeta also said that director Mani Ratnam also wanted to give sexual effect in her scenes. He wanted their bodies to be wrapped around each other like a lion and a lioness.
Meeta Vashishtha told that this scene was shot in Humayun’s Tomb in Delhi. A huge crowd had gathered there to see Shahrukh. In such a situation he turned his back. When Mita asked Shahrukh why he turned his face away from the crowd, he replied that it was a problem. But before starting the shooting of the scene, he turned once and showed his face to the crowd and the crowd went out of control. Shahrukh knew that if he did this, this would definitely happen.
The actress told that after one take, director Mani Ratnam called the costume designer and asked her to wear a long sleeve T-shirt. Meeta Vashishtha further said, ‘I know what was happening. You were saving your heroine. He should do his homework better. You should have asked him to go to the gym. You should have told him to lose weight. I knew that the killer body I had built was dominating for Manisha. He did not pay attention to his physique. She was just focusing on her beautiful face. When we were together on camera, this difference was also visible.
