A shocking incident took place at the Hindu College railway station in Tiruvallur district of Chennai. Here, drunken youths attack passengers waiting for trains with plastic pipes. The attack resulted in some passengers being injured, causing chaos in the station and spreading panic among passengers.
The incident occurred on Saturday night when some drunk young men suddenly came to the railway station and attacked passengers for no reason. The young men who attacked used plastic pipes, causing injuries to many passengers. During this period, a TNEB (Tamil Nadu Electricity Board) employee also became a victim of attack and he later complained to the railway police.
Three people arrested, including a minor
Awadi Railway Police acted swiftly on the complaint of the victim and registered a case. The police formed three special teams to identify and arrest the criminals. So far, police have arrested three defendants, including a minor, involved in the attack.
Police are taking further action to investigate. Additional police are being deployed at the station to ensure the safety of passengers to prevent such incidents from happening. Taking into account the seriousness of the incident, the Railway Administration also pledged to further strengthen security arrangements.
Passengers’ safety concerns
Both locals and tourists appeared shocked after the attack. One passenger said the incident was horrific. We all fear for our safety as incidents like this could pose a threat to anyone. At the same time, the police and railway administration are required to take practical measures to ensure the safety of passengers.
