The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully completed testing of the guided Pinaka weapon system. The test is part of the Temporary Staff Qualification Requirements (PSQR) validation trial. Flight testing was conducted in three phases at different field shooting ranges. During these tests, the rocket was tested on a large scale. During this time, PSQR criteria such as range, accuracy, stability and salvo mode (a salvo is the simultaneous use of artillery or firearms that involves firing a cannon to attack a target) were evaluated as rate of fire against multiple targets. Twelve (12) rockets from each production facility were tested on two active Pinaka launchers upgraded by the launcher production facility.

The precision strike variant of the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System is a completely domestic weapon system developed by the Arms Research and Development Agency in collaboration with the Research Center Building, the Defense Research and Development Laboratory, the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory and the Verification and Experimental Establishment. Design and development. Munitions for the project are being supplied by Munitions India Limited and Economic Explosives Limited, while Tata Advanced Systems Limited and Larsen & Toubro are supplying the Pinaka launchers and battery command posts.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his appreciation to the DRDO and the Indian Army for the success of the PSQR verification test of the system and said that the introduction of the Pinaka guided weapon system will further enhance the artillery firepower of the armed forces.
What is a Pinaka rocket launcher?
The Pinaka rocket is equipped with a state-of-the-art guidance system so it can accurately identify and hit its target. It is designed and developed by DRDO Laboratories, Arms Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) and High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Pune. The initial range of the Pinaka rocket was about 37 kilometers, which has been increased to more than 45 kilometers. With the Pinaka weapon system, rockets can be fired at multiple locations simultaneously. Pinaka identified the exact target and launched the rocket there.
