President Draupadi Murmu will visit Siachen Base Camp in Ladakh on September 26, 2024. During this period, she will meet Indian Army soldiers stationed there. Will talk to them. The President will be the third President to visit Siachen.

Prior to this, late President Dr Abdul Kalam visited Siachen in April 2004 and Ramnath Kovind in May 2018. The Indian Army Base Camp is the highest battlefield in the world. It is located on the Siachen Glacier at an altitude of 20,000 feet.

The Siachen Glacier is located in the Karakoram Mountains of the Himalayas. This is the highest military zone in the world. Here, soldiers face frostbite and strong cold winds. The Indian Army took full control of the area on April 13, 1984, through Operation Meghdoot.
