China is rapidly increasing the quantity of its new anti-ship cruise missile YJ-18 in its army. This is so that China can easily face local problems through this. This missile is inspired by Russia’s 3M-54E Club missile. It is not yet known whether China has made it alone or in collaboration with Russia. It is also compared with India’s BrahMos and Russia’s Onyx.
The first revelation about this came in 2009. After this, its testing was started in 2013. Whereas it has been included in the Chinese army since 2015. An attempt has been made to incorporate the long range of the YJ-62 missile and the supersonic speed of the YJ-12 missile. That means overall it is a matter of design.

First the missile moves slowly, then suddenly moves faster.
This missile has two stages. The first stage is with subsonic turbojet engine. So that it can cruise for long distances. After this, its supersonic terminal stage becomes active at a distance of just 40 kilometers from the target. It instantly reaches speeds of 3580 km/hr to 4770 km/hr. That means, if earlier the enemy had 2 minutes time to escape, then it reduces to only 30 seconds.

Can employ many types of weapons, range up to 540 kilometers
The actual range of this missile is 220 to 540 kilometers. 140 to 300 kg of warheads can be fitted in one missile. That means warhead. Its NATO name is CH-SS-NX-13. By the way, in Chinese it is called Yingjie-18. It can be fired by installing high explosive warhead or anti-radiation warhead. Due to this the electronic systems of the enemy get damaged. After destroying their radar and communication systems, a deadly attack can be launched with a second missile.

Deployed in many warships and submarines of China
China has deployed this missile in its Type-052D destroyer and Type 055 destroyer. Apart from this, it has also been installed in Shang-2 class nuclear submarine. Where its launching is done through Vertical Launching System (VLS). Apart from this, it has also been installed in Song class diesel electric submarine.
