Darul Uloom Deoband.

Darul Uloom, a world-famous Islamic educational institution located in Deoband in Saharanpur district of UP, is constantly in the news for its fatwa. One of the fatwas is becoming increasingly popular on social media. It said that if Muslim men and women are bank employees, no Muslim should marry their children. In this regard, Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora said that the fatwa is eight years old and is correct.

Darul Uloom, an Islamic education institution, has said that the salary received by Muslim employees from banks is interest-based, regardless of whether the children are bank employees or their children. When TV9 Bharatvarsh spoke to Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora (Deobandi scholar and patron of Jamiat DawatulMuslimeen) about the fatwa on this issue.

Here’s why one shouldn’t marry a bank clerk

Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora said the fatwa going viral on social media is eight years old and is correct. According to Sharia law, whether a Muslim man or woman works in a bank, the salary they receive in the bank is usurious. Charging interest is illegal under Sharia law, so Muslims should not marry their children to these bank employees. This is illegal except for bank officers, people working in interest rates or loan sharking.

The fatwa was issued during the Lok Sabha elections

Even before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Deoband has made a big announcement. Darul Uloom has said that the country’s leaders should not be welcomed. Furthermore, no one in charge of Darul Uloom will meet or take photos with any leader within Darul Uloom. Darul Uloom also issued a fatwa in July.

In the fatwa, students studying at Mandarul Uloom were told that they were not allowed to study English or any other subject during their stay at the school. If found guilty, the guilty student will be expelled from Darul Uloom.
